My First Book Signing Experience

Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.

I have been to several book fairs during my school days. However, I never experienced a book signing event before. I was clueless going into my first book signing. I did a lot of research on tips and ideas for book signing events. I can say all of that research made my nerves go up. Even more, my book signing was at a church because of the nature of my first book. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.

The day came for the book signing event. I set my table up with a sign holder and a copy of my book before church service began. I also added some stickers I created and a pail full of chocolates. I was hoping to get folks before service began, but that did not happen. I began to get nervous, but left it in God’s hands. Once service ended, I went to the back of the church. Several people approached me, asking for a book. I ended up being sold out. It all happened too fast. Once I arrived home, I noticed that stickers did not go out with the books. This is one of my several lessons learned. Next time, I’ll have books prepared with the swag.
